Evidence Based

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

The modality’s efficacy is well-supported by empirical, peer reviewed outcome research, making it a credible and respected approach in the therapeutic community.

  • EFT has been validated by over 30 years of empirical research. There is also research on the change processes and predictors of success.
  • EFT has been applied to many different kinds of problems and populations.

Karen is additionally trained in EFT and a member of ICEEFT, the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy.

EFT looks beneath the surface of conflict at the needs and fears driving it. Couples learn to recognize the negative cycle that pulls them apart, slow it down, and reach for each other in new ways.

Trained

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing.

EMDR is a structured therapy that helps the brain process distressing memories, so they become less intense and lose their hold on the present. It uses bilateral stimulation, such as guided eye movements, while you briefly focus on a memory. Karen will explain each step and move at a pace that feels safe.

Informed by

Internal Family Systems

Understanding the different parts of you with curiosity instead of judgment.

IFS-informed therapy recognizes that we all have parts that protect us, sometimes in ways that no longer help. Getting to know those parts with compassion can bring more calm and clarity.
